After an incredibly busy (and a bit trying) summer, I'm attempting to catch up with my sanity a bit this weekend (you know, cleaning, preserving, crocheting, sleeping, harvesting, decorating, sleeping, popcorn eating & movie watching...)!
So, while I'm doing all that, here are a few items that have caught my eye recently...
Food & Kitchen
- Turmeric, the wonder "drug". I wonder if I can grow this??? Have any of you grown turmeric?
- Have you ever made your own Italian Sausage? This is a brilliant tutorial (step by step, even!) on how to do so and the breakdown of savings!
Education & Environment
- These polar bears break my heart. We must continue to work towards changing our habits and spreading knowledge about the affects of climate change!
- Plastic Free July - summed up is a great reflection on how to adjust the plastic we use as well as facing the challenge of certain items that are much more difficult to find alternative for. Plastic is everywhere...
- This statistic disgusts me. I love seafood, but fear what I am probably eating with the seafood that I love so much. Gross. Again, education and changed habits are essential.
Farm & Garden
- The Anatomy of an Egg: What's Inside That Shell?
- How to deal with weeds - not kill them is a great little piece about changed perspectives and permaculture. Really. Read it.
Preservation & Preparation
- There is Pinterest Preparedness Party Hop happening at Mom with a Prep this month! Lots of great Pinterest boards to explore around all things prep-related! Check it out, link up, follow along, enjoy!
Just Because...
- This lost Egyptian city is simply amazing to see! So incredibly amazing!
