DIY - Grow Light Stand

Happy (early) Birthday to me!!!

On Sunday, Tool Lady built me a surprise!  A Grow Light Stand!!!  She got the plans from growgardentomatoes.com, made all the cuts in the garage, brought it into the Living Room to put together (she likes to watch TV while she's building things) and the whole time I could NOT figure out what she was making!

For the last hour of the process she made me go upstairs so she could put it all together.  When I came downstairs, this is what I found in our Laundry Room!!!

Oh, the things we can grow inside!!!  It has not one, not two, but THREE shelves!!!  Happy (early) Birthday to me!!!  Not only can we start all our spring seedlings indoors, but we can actually produce produce throughout the winter...inside!!!  Lettuce, spinach, wheat grass, certain Asian greens, some herbs and sprouts!!!  Oh, I'm just beside myself with excitement!!!

  1. Wow, how exciting that is! Dang, I wish 2nd Man was the 'tool person' in the family, ha. If I want one I'll have to build it myself, lol. That's a very thoughtful gift. I can't wait to see how stuff does in it. Maybe that's something I'll want to make this time next year when, hopefully, our gardens are built and I'm planning for Spring 2013. Happy "early" birthday to you!

  3. 1st Man - I am a very lucky lady! I'll look forward to your post in a year about your new grow light stand!!! :-)

Jody - Thanks! I can't wait! I'm starting seeds tonight! I'm going to try to grow as much as I can through the winter and then start some starts in the spring for transplanting!

    1. That little stand has been the biggest blessing!!! I'm not quite sure what we'd do without it and we've only had for about 6 months! The thing is magical!
