Harvest Monday

Happy Monday everyone!

Alright, so I finally got into the hoop houses again on Saturday.  The sun was shining beautifully and it was quite warm outside...scary warm for February, actually.  I checked everything out, watered the fruit trees and just enjoyed the sun on my back for a bit.  I didn't, however, take any pics.  I know, I know, crazy right?!  You'll just have to take my word for it...everything looks great!  The spinach is starting to size up, the kale is recovering from...well, whatever has been kicking its ass, the lettuce is starting to look like lettuce, the turnips actually sprouted enough to call for thinning and the carrots...well, they looked so good I just had to pull a few for a taste!  I mean, really...how else would I know that they're itty bitty and need a LOT more time?!

OK, so I know they're officially not ready, but I also know that're super sweet and are going to be fantastic once they size up a bit!

This weeks totals:
  • Mixed Greens = 1 ounce
  • Spinach = 1 ounce
  • Carrots = 1 ounce
  • Eggs = 15 (yep...again!)

Happy harvesting!

  1. Nothing like sweet baby carrots. With the longer day lengths and the increasing sun strength - your covered bed should continue to thrive and grow.

    1. Zero carrots?! I hope you have plans of putting some in the ground! Not sure I could live without at least a few in the ground!

  4. That's sometimes as big as our carrots get, period. Root crops are our Achilles Heel :)

  8. Like everyone else I want to say the carrots look great. Mine usually don't get much past that stage either - as a result of either the kids or my impatience usually.

    1. We have 7 laying hens right now but just got 9 new chicks. 15 eggs is great...and I won't complain too much...but I do look forward to it warming up a bit so the ladies can REALLY start laying again!
