We took a spur of the moment trip to Espanola last weekend to check out any random thrift shops we could find. Espanola is a small town about 20 minutes north of Santa Fe and is generally a place we pass through on our way somewhere else (Taos, Picuris, Colorado...) but we intentionally went thinking that one shop in particular might have some good stuff. It didn't. After several more stops and still no goodies in hand, we stopped at one final place on our way out of town and...Score!!!
I found an old school cake (and pie) carrier! Even better, the lady gave me 20% off because she embarrassed by all the dust on it! HA! Wonderful!

Here it is (still dusty) all put together... |
|
Once you take off the top, you see there's a little pie carrier beneath! |
|
That little lids comes off too. This way you can make a cake AND a pie,
because apparently it's not enough to bake just one type of dessert ;-) |
|
I LOVE these metal clasps!!! |
I also found this super sweet shirt! The cotton is so soft, no stains, no rips, just beautiful!
|
Here's a close up of the lace detail on the chest... |
|
...and a close up of the tie up the front. |
|
The wrists have elastic in them, which I'm not crazy about but...
I think I can live with it :-) |
|
It also has this nifty tie in the back so I can adjust its fit
depending on how expanded my waist is on a given day!
Magic! |
We've gotten really lucky lately with all of our second hand finds! And half the fun is in the looking!
Happy thrifting!
Great finds!!
ReplyDeleteYou scored!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's so cool. 2nd Man would be all over that, ha. And two layers of goodies? You could do all sorts of stuff, even cookies in the bottom and a cake in the top. Or a pie. Or an upside down cake and a regular layer cake. Or a few cupcakes and a regular cake. Or...well, ok, now I'm just getting silly, ha.
ReplyDeleteKerri & loves2spin - Yes! I'm super stoked about them both!
ReplyDelete1st Man - LOL...yes, you're silly...but that was kind of my thought pattern, too...so many possibilities!!! ;-)
