1950s Singer Sewing Machine

I'm sure I've mentioned before that I work at a non-profit that serves girls from age 5 to 15 through after school and summer camp programs.  Because we are a non-profit, people are constantly donating items to us that they think might be "good" or "fun" or "useful" for the girls.  Sometimes the items are all those things and sometimes they are not.

A couple of weeks ago, this beautiful sewing machine was donated to us.  Since we can't use it with the girls for many reasons, I asked if I could make a monetary donation for it and take it home...the answer was yes.  Now I just have to find it a proper home and learn how to use it!

Isn't it gorgeous???  Oh, I really do want to learn/teach myself how to sew well!  Maybe this is the inspiration I needed???

  1. I used to have one just like it. It was great. You may need to contact a sewing repair man and have him oil it. Otherwise, you should get YEARS of service out of it.

I (stupidly) parted with mine and bought a new model. The old one was much better.

    1. Well, now that I have a new model and an old one, I just have to get to using them! Thanks for the oiling tip...I have turned her on yet, so that's good for me to keep in mind :-)
