Harvest Monday

Happy Monday everyone!

Not a ton to report today in the way of actual harvests as we're nearing the end of our greens and there's a bit of a break between them and my spring plantings.  I still haven't mastered this whole succession planting schedule but there is a lot growing in the garden right now and I just planted out and direct sowed a lot more last night...I'll have to do a proper posting about that another day though as I'm running out the door for a 7am start to my day as I wrap up the after school program I manage and gear up for summer camp!  :-)



This weeks totals:
  • Chard = 5 oz
  • Kale = 2 oz
  • Spinach = 2 oz
  • Eggs = 30 eggs

      Thanks! The number's even going down since our Blondie went broody on us! Not sure what we'll do when our newest newbies start laying!

    Lovely greens. I'm down to just chard; the lettuce is shot in the heat and the mustard is bolting. Next year I'm hoping to have some beds covered in shade cloth for the lettuce to try and keep it a bit longer. I too need to work on succession planting as I'm having a bit of a gap now.

      Ugh...the sun is so intense here already! Everything is (I'm guessing) about 3 weeks earlier than usual. Crazy! I'm considering shade cloth as well :-)

    I think alot about the succession planting schedule. I am sure I haven't mastered it either. Just keep trying. You'll learn what works for your yard.

      Thanks! I sure hope so! Just as soon as I think I've gotten better, I hit a lull. Eventually I hope to truly be able to harvest year round :-)

    Succession planting even when done with long experience behind you can still occassionally result in gaps - plants don't always grow on schedule!

    I am not participating in harvest Monday this week as I was traveling and away this past week and did not harvest anything as a result. It gave the greens a week to bounce back from my rather steady harvesting of late.

    I struggle with succession planting for lots of things - the exception for me is lettuce - I know to sow seed monthly so I do, but things that I sow less frequently I tend to only realise i should sow them again when I either run out of it or happen to notice its starting to bolt.
