Pears...
Apricots...
Apples (which seem to be a bit behind the rest of the fruit trees, but are doing beautifully as well)...
Our journey to producing more and consuming less on 1/8 acre in the middle of the city. Urban farming, through keeping backyard chickens and a top bar hive of honey bees, practicing organic vegetable gardening, taking care of several fruit trees, maintaining a compost pile, canning and preserving our harvests and trying our best to do it all ourselves using reclaimed materials where possible.

Everything looks great over there. I have a big pear tree that had more flowers than I have ever seen. (I canned 57 cans of pears last year.) But it has Japanese rust on it. I don't know if I will get anything off it. I have gotten a solution from a local old timer. I am going to try it.
ReplyDeleteIt just makes me want to cry when I look at my tree all covered with fruit and every one of the fruits are bright orange from that disgusting rust.
Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that! What is Japanese Rust?! Can you do anything to make it go away safely???
DeleteIt all looks great -- our orchard I am concerned for. We dipped again last night with a frost and I hear there is another one coming this weekend :/
ReplyDeleteOh, Allison! I'm keeping you and your orchard in my thoughts! I hope they all wind up being OK!!!
DeleteI haven't had the heart to go look at our apples. We hit 26 degrees last week when they were in full bloom. I don't have much hope for fruit. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.
ReplyDeleteYour little fruits look great!
Judy
Oh man, I hope they made it through the cold OK! I'm way behind on blog reading (stinkin school...)but I'll pop over and see if you've posted anything about it! my fingers are crossed for you to have some fruit this year!
DeleteAs usual, our apricot blossoms were mostly blown off. We always get horrible wind in March. Our cherry tree is full of blossoms, and our apple tree will be flowering soon. (Our apple tree is always the last to go.) Then, it will be the blackberry bushes (if I get them cleaned up this weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh...blackberries! I hope to be able to grow some of those someday :-) We planted a bush a couple of years ago but it completely failed :-(
DeleteAw, so beautiful to see baby fruit. It's like being a proud mama. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that the cold didn't affect the fruiting. Woohoo!
WooHoo is right!!! I am definitely a proud mama! I heard on the weather the other day that they think we might be done with freezing temps...my fingers sure are crossed that she was right!!!
