There are a few details that we weren't able to capture on video because the actions required three or four hands which left zero hands for holding the camera, but you can read about all the missing details here :-)
Our journey to producing more and consuming less on 1/8 acre in the middle of the city. Urban farming, through keeping backyard chickens and a top bar hive of honey bees, practicing organic vegetable gardening, taking care of several fruit trees, maintaining a compost pile, canning and preserving our harvests and trying our best to do it all ourselves using reclaimed materials where possible.

wow you guys are so brave, were you not nervous without the kit on? I hope im as confident as you 2 by the time i get mine :)
ReplyDeleteOh Astra! I'm sorry! This comment must have slipped past me! We weren't nervous because, when you first get the bees, they have no home and therefore, nothing to protect, so they're very docile. It's once they've established themselves that they get a little sassy about protecting it :-)
DeleteI totally wigged out and only made it to the 2 min mark and had to stop watching (Once I could see all the bees AND hear the buzzing). LOL I am WAY allergic to bees and even though it is a video it gave me the heebie geebies. Y'all are so brave!
ReplyDeleteWell, congrats on getting 2 minutes in! How does your allergy manifest? I didn't know it when we got the bees, but I'm allergic to them too! Not sure if you've read the post yet, but my face swelled up like a balloon and I was prescribed an EpiPen in case i stop breathing next time. Awesome. So I'm definitely working through some fear with them buzzing around my yard ;-)
